Hello Cycling Community, I want to announce that after our initial interest meeting yesterday afternoon, our Junior Development Program for the Corning/NoTubes Race Team is officially kicked off! A number of interested parents and youth participants gathered to learn about the program in the upcoming year, ask questions and meet each other. The enthusiasm and energy is exciting to see! I know that a number of pre-registered families and participants were unable to make the meeting due to family commitments, but we would like to get you the information presented at the meeting and gather your contact information as we start planning events and skills clinics. Please see the Junior's page on the Corning/NoTubes Race Team website below for how to get in touch with us.
Thank you for your support and to our event hosts Bob Nunnink and Vanessa McCaffery! |

We’d like to thank everyone for attending the 4th Annual Corning Circuit Race. Each year we strive to provide racers with a high quality racing experience – a great course, well organized and scored races, and excellent prizes. We hope this year we did not disappoint.
Of course we always encounter the unexpected – whether it’s a Motoref who’s forced to cancel the night before the event, a tough security guard who held some of our participants up at the front gate, or an awards presentation where Victory Lane was locked – but in general we hope you had a unique and enjoyable experience that you will talk about for years to come.
The Southside Community Center and Corning Area Youth Center will be receiving donations from the Gears for the Tiers Charitable Fund (the CCR race charity) as a result of your participation, which will assist in providing programs to the area’s youth.
In an effort to reduce the volume of emails sent out to everyone, we will be posting the link to the race photos on our Facebook page and Twitter feed. We expect that they will be available before the end of the week. Please Like or Follow us there (links on the race website homepage)!
Once again, Thank You for participating in the 2011 Corning Circuit Race! We hope to see you next year and please spread the word!

Calling all cyclists! The 4th edition of the Corning Circuit Race is set to take place on *Saturday, June 25th* at Watkins Glen International racetrack, and we would love to have you come out and race. Held at a premier venue that received high praise from participants last year, the track offers a challenging 3.4 mile circuit with wide open smooth roads like you won't find anywhere else. We made some changes to the race this year, namely updating the category mix and changing the race lengths due to feedback we received last year from racers, so we know you are going to like it! Courtesy of a grant from NYSBRA, we are once again offering free entry to 2011 NYS Road Race Champions (crowned at Bristol Mountain this past May) by contacting the race committee via BikeReg. All of the race information including the flier and revised categories is available on our race website:
https://sites.google.com/site/corningraceteam/corning-curcuit-race Registration is available on BikeReg: http://www.bikereg.com/events/register.asp?eventid=13293 On our race website, you'll find links to our Facebook and Twitter, which we use for race updates and announcements. Be sure to like and follow us there. In continuing our tradition of giving back to the community, the proceeds from the race will benefit two local children's community centers in Elmira and Corning. We would like to thank our current sponsors of Corning Incorporated, Notubes, Simmons-Rockwell, EZ Budget Insurance, Hammer Nutrition, and NYSBRA for supporting our event for another year. We hope to see you at the 2011 Corning Circuit race! Brian Klotz Race Promoter Dan Reed Race Director |

As 2010 comes to a close, it's a good time to reflect on the things
that we have accomplished and the year we have had with cycling here in
the Southern Tier. In particular, the Corning Race Team has had a very
successful year. A year-end review for the team was written back in November,
which you can read here if you missed it previously:

Many of the discounts on products, cycling events, charitable
functions and the high quality cycling uniforms and apparel worn by team

organizations!

Jeremy Wickham competed well in what turned out to be a race of attrition on Sunday, August 15th at the Tour de Millersburg road race. Through pouring rain, coming down since the start of the race on the nearly 90 competitors, he made the break of about 20 riders and came in well for the sprint to place 11th. Although the rest of the weekend was not kind to CRT racers including Brian Klotz and Dave Hansen due to the high quality fields and mechanical events, Jeremy pulled out a great finish in the tough conditions! He also managed a 21st overall finish.

We had two race team members compete in the Great Race this year, Bruce
Rohdenburg and Lisa Scialdone. Lisa competed in the Short course race
and finished 100th in her time trial leg and finished on the 23rd
overall team out of 413 teams. Bruce finished 8th in his TT leg and on
the 3rd overall team out of 207 teams. That is mighty impressive. Very well done Bruce and Lisa!
